Supreme Council for Health: Bahrain Spends 15% of the Public Health Budget on Diabetes Patients

The Chairman of the Supreme Council for Health, Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, revealed that Bahrain allocates 15% of its public health budget to address diabetes and its complications. Speaking at the Bahrain Diabetes and Endocrine Conference, he emphasized the high cost of treating diabetes, which is a growing health issue in the country and the region. He highlighted that Bahrain is working actively to improve preventive measures, treatment methods, and medical technologies to reduce the impact of diabetes on the healthcare system.

Dr. Wiam Hussein, a specialist in diabetes and endocrinology, also stressed the importance of continuous research and collaboration between local and international experts to tackle the rising number of diabetes cases. The conference featured 25 sessions focusing on the latest advancements in diabetes treatment, prevention, and management, as well as updates on innovative technologies that enhance patient care.

The article also pointed out the importance of raising public awareness about diabetes, early diagnosis, and preventive measures to curb the growing burden of the disease, which is expected to rise significantly by 2030.
