60% of Diabetes-Related Deaths are Due to Heart and Artery Diseases: Call for Obesity Treatment Centers in Health Facilities

The Bahrain Diabetes and Endocrinology Conference highlighted alarming statistics, showing that 60% of deaths related to diabetes are caused by heart and artery diseases. Experts at the conference called for the establishment of specialized centers in Bahrain's health facilities to treat obesity, which is a major contributing factor to diabetes and its complications.

The event, attended by over 600 specialists, focused on the increasing rates of diabetes and obesity in the region. The conference discussed modern treatment methods, the importance of early diagnosis, and advanced technological solutions to improve patient care. Dr. Wiam Hussein emphasized the need for continuous awareness campaigns to address the rising number of diabetes cases, which are expected to increase dramatically by 2025.

The conference also featured 40 scientific sessions, where specialists discussed the latest advancements in diabetes treatment and the role of healthy lifestyles in preventing complications related to heart and vascular diseases. Additionally, international experts contributed insights on how to improve healthcare systems and tackle the diabetes epidemic in the Gulf region.
